New rescue to support company's mission

As the world we live in continually changes, so do the emergencies we face as fire/rescue personnel.  With the increased technical levels of rescue response and the need to carry additional equipment for incidents, it was necessary for the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company to upgrade our rescue apparatus.  For approximately 18 months, under the leadership of Chief Walter Turner, the rescue truck committee members of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company have been committed to designing a state-of-the-art  rescue vehicle to combat these new world challenges.  The process of design takes a tremendous commitment on behalf of the committee members and general membership to ensure the proper vehicle is purchased.

From the initial flip-chart ideas to now an approved construction drawing, the company is moving the residents of Clifford Township and the surrounding communities into the next level of protection.  Officially classed as a “heavy rescue” the apparatus will provide not only the same services as the unit it replaces, but many more life saving features for both the rescuers and the people it protects.  Being classed as a “heavy rescue” just touches on its capabilities.  The apparatus is designed to respond to motor vehicle accidents, technical rescues, special operation incidents, fire support, truck company operations, command post, Quick-Response-Service, and many more.

The Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company averages 400 incidents per year.  Of that, this piece of apparatus responds to most of these incidents.  One place in particular is Interstate 81.  Rescue 18 serves as the first due heavy rescue for seventeen miles of interstate.  As a result of this, the apparatus has special features designed into its on scene operation and provides the highest level of safety to its crew. Along with those issues, it will boast the latest in equipment placement and layout to provide rapid extrication of victims in motor vehicle accidents as well as efficient operation during other types of incidents.

Without the support of the community, the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company would not be able to provide this level of care to the area.  Thank you to all who support us. Delivery of the apparatus is expected in late January.  We will continue updates on the apparatus as delivery nears.
